Join Us for the MR Physics Summer School!
Over the past five decades, Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging and spectroscopy have experienced unprecedented technological advancement and ever-expanding clinical applications, revolutionizing modern medicine. It offers exquisite soft tissue contrast and provides rich biological information on tissue structure, physiology, metabolism, and function. Such information is invaluable for diagnosing diseases, guiding interventions, and evaluating treatment. MR is based on sophisticated physics principles and engineering implementations, presenting considerable challenges for clinical users. In addition, although MR does not involve ionizing radiation, it imposes substantial safety issues due to the strong magnetic field, radiofrequency irradiation, magnetic field gradient switching, the use of contrast agents, etc. Medical physicists, MR scientists, and engineers play a key role in translating MR technologies to clinical practice and ensuring safe and efficient operation of MR procedures.
This 4.5-day Summer School aims to equip clinical medical physicists, scientists, engineers, and trainees with essential knowledge and advanced skills to practice in modern MR clinics. The Summer School also provides ample networking opportunities for participants to discuss clinical MR physics and interact with the faculty in a casual setting. The syllabus consists of six modules:Essential MR Physics, Facility Planning and Performance Testing, MR Safety, MR Protocols, Quantitative and Advanced MR, and Emerging Technologies. In addition to didactic lectures, the Summer School also features three workshops to promote active learning or hands-on experience. In the final module on Emerging Technologies, an industry forum is incorporated for the MR equipment manufacturers to showcase the latest developments and applications of artificial intelligence to MR.
We invite all clinical MR professionals, diagnostic and therapy, to join us in Denver, Colorado, for an engaging and educational experience. We look forward to seeing you there!
This Summer School is being led by Program Directors:
·Ho-Ling (Anthony) Liu, MD Anderson Cancer Center
·Xiaohong Joe Zhou, University of Illinois Chicago
What people are saying about past Summer Schools:
·It was a great learning and networking opportunity.
·This was a wonderful Summer School. I learned so much and it was so valuable.
·Summer School was one of the best meetings I have been to.
·I am telling all of my friends/colleagues that Summer Schools are a blast and super valuable. I enjoyed it more than any other professional meeting I've been to.
·Summer School was excellent. The small size helps build unique connections between attendees.
·One of the best conferences I've been to.
·It was fantastic! I highly recommend this meeting to any physicist! Such great opportunity for attendees to share and engage with experts and other physicists.
·I had the best experience at this year's AAPM Summer School! This was my first time attending, but in comparison to other professional organization meetings, this is by far the most entertaining and engaging.
