Novel breast imaging technologies are increasingly becoming part of routine clinical practice, including contrast-enhanced mammography, molecular breast imaging, and emerging breast ultrasound applications. The goal of this education symposium is to prepare and familiarize the medical physicist with these new modalities. For each modality, clinician and physicist presenters team up to discuss clinical applications and utility, as well as basic physics principles and quality-control procedures. This will allow the medical physicist to gain a thorough understanding of the clinical use, potential pitfalls, and will help them establish and implement a quality control program.
Learning objectives:
1. To understand clinical utility of novel breast imaging technologies
2. To become familiar with the physics principles of each modality
3. To be able to implement quality control procedures for each modality
