SU-B-TRACK 4-0 (Sunday, 7/25/2021) 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM [Eastern Time (GMT-4)]

Theranostics, or the combination of both therapeutics and diagnostics for image guided therapies, is an emerging area of interest toward personalized and highly targeted approach. This joint symposium between the World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS) and AAPM will highlight the current status and latest technologies in the growing field of theranostics. Dr. Hope will provide an overview of theranostics in PET/MR. Dr. Lapi will describe novel areas of interest in theranostics. Finally, Dr. Vasdev will discuss some current efforts in developing novel PET tracers in the brain. When taken together, these three invited speakers will summarize the state of the art knowledge in theranostics, review the current challenges and potential solutions, and share their perspectives of future directions for research and clinical implementation.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the principles of theranostics, the different approaches, and their advantages and drawbacks
2. Learn about emerging areas of clinical and research theranostics implementation
3. Understand the potential of using theranostics for target therapy.
