MO-F-TRACK 6-0 (Monday, 7/26/2021) 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM [Eastern Time (GMT-4)]

Radiology administrators are not likely eager to pay for physicists to engage in activities outside of accreditation and regulatory compliance roles. Physicists, however, have a skill set that is aptly suited to tackle problems outside of these traditional roles. This symposium will teach the physicist how to bring additional value to a radiology department. Our speakers are split 50/50 between physicists and administrators. Topics will include non-traditional physics tasks like: building scanner/indication based scheduling template rules, contrast administration/timing/uniformity across scanners and sites, scan speed optimization in CT for pediatrics to mitigate motion and sedation, monitoring exam timeliness in the setting of rapid imaging needs, and monitoring protocol selection and dose consistency across an enterprise. Examples will be presented in a manner which does not require on-site physics support. Therefore, our examples should resonate with the consulting physicist or the off-site academic physicist in addition to onsite physics support.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how to quantify potential time and contrast agent savings and provide opportunities for increased efficiency to support physics time spent outside of traditional roles.
2. Walk away with references and examples of non-traditional physics projects you can implement.
