WE-CD-TRACK 2-0 (Wednesday, 7/28/2021) 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM [Eastern Time (GMT-4)]

The American College of Radiology (ACR) quality control manuals have represented standardized programs for quality and safety for many years. The most recent stereotactic breast biopsy QC manual is from 1999; this session will include an introductory vision for an updated stereotactic and/or x-ray image-guided breast biopsy QC manual that is now in development. This session will also include an introductory vision for QC manuals for nuclear medicine and PET, which are also now in progress. Summer 2021 will also see introduction of a new MR Accreditation Program (MRAP) phantom in a medium size. This medium phantom will accommodate clinical head coils that are too small for the large phantom, necessitating extra handling of MR coils in order to conduct required MRAP QC. This session will include key updates to the MRAP related to the new medium phantom. This session will conclude with a discussion of a new ACR project focused on the pursuit of meaningful and efficient automatic quantification of clinical CT exams.

Learning objectives:
1. Understand the vision for the ACR stereotactic breast biopsy QC manual revision in progress;
2. Understand the vision for the ACR NM and PET QC manuals in development;
3. Learn requirements for using the new medium phantom in the ACR MR Accreditation Program;
4. Learn key elements of ACR’s project to identify and develop processes for automatically quantifying and reporting indices of clinical image quality in CT.
