Looking for that next career step? Do you have what it takes to be considered? Lots of factors can influence your advancement, ranging from expertise, problem-solving ability, and experience. Yet sometimes these factors that look-good-on-paper are not enough. Leadership at the next level means making a personal impact in addition to getting results.

In this session, MPLA will present its recommended leadership curriculum for where to efficiently put your effort for further developing your leadership skills based on your career stage. These core leadership skills should be transferable regardless of your work environment. MPLA will also present career planning steps to use in designing your path forward best suited to you. Additionally, the session will have a panel of medical physicist leaders discuss the need for passion in what you do, for creative as well as strategic thinking, and for the ability to make a strong case. The future of medicine is rapidly changing, so how can you be best equipped to play a role in defining and driving medical physics in your future?

Learning Objectives:
1. Apply the MPLA curriculum matrix of skills versus career stage
2. Value the need for medical physicists to foster both creative thinking and strategic thinking
3. Adapt lessons from a panel of medical physics leaders with their experiences of factors that affected their career advancement
