Purpose: To build a web-based DICOM and Monte Carlo (MC) dose viewer 'Voxel Interactive Contour Tool for Online Radiation Intensity Analytics (VICTORIA)' for the visualization and comparison of dose distributions with underlying anatomy that is free, accessible, simple to use, secure, and requires no downloads. The web viewer should be useful for researchers using .egsphant and .3ddose file types from the EGSnrc toolkit, or researchers in low- and middle-income countries without access to treatment planning systems.

Methods: VICTORIA was coded in Javascript using D3.js and Conerstone.js to assist in visualization and file parsing. All processing is done client-side to avoid uploading files with patient information over the web. VICTORIA currently accepts .egsphant, .3ddose, CT DICOM, and RT DICOM file types, and can calculate dose differences between dose files. Web Workers were employed to cache the density slices to improve speed.

Results: VICTORIA visualizes the position, density, dose, material, and dose profiles where the user clicks. Clicks can be used to navigate the image, sliders control the window and level of patient anatomy, and dose contours can be added or removed. The user can export the visualization and dose profiles to .png and .csv, respectively. Multiple different density and dose distributions may be loaded and compared. Using Google Chrome, a 21.7 MB .egsphant file took 1.4 s to load, and navigating slices before caching took 9.2 ms, while after caching it took 3.1 ms. A batch of 171 DICOM CT files with a total size of 90.4 MB took 13.2 s to load, while navigating slices took 45.5 ms before and 14.1 ms after caching, respectively.

Conclusion: VICTORIA is a convenient web-based MC and CT dose comparison and visualizer tool that is free and accessible.
