Radiopharmaceutical Therapy (RPT) is fast becoming a mainstream modality with the development and approval of new emitters and conjugates. Professionals from both Radiation Oncology and Nuclear Medicine are expressing interest in, learning the fundamentals of, and implementing radiopharmaceutical therapy in their clinic. While multiple efforts are underway to add more radiopharmaceutical-specific material to training programs, retrospective training of medical physicists in this discipline is a gigantic unmet need.
This 4.5-day Summer School covers the gamut of radiopharmaceutical therapy applications: from fixed-activity administration requirements and basics, such as regulatory aspects and radiation safety concerns, to more advanced topics relative to dosimetry that are of huge interest. Advanced dosimetry subjects will be taught in a more pedagogically-oriented hands-on environment.
The program is divided into didactic and workshop sessions. Advanced dosimetry subjects to be taught include quantification of the activity through 3-D imaging, dosimetry theory with curve fitting, MIRD Organ-level dosimetry as well as voxelized dosimetry using different commercially-available software with a special session on QA, common error avoidance, and methods for standardization and reproducibility.
This Summer School is being led by Program Directors:
Robert Hobbs, PhD — Johns Hopkins University
Joseph O'Donoghue, PhD — Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Jessica Clements, MS— University of Vermont Medical Center
