TG 126 describes a middle ground in PET/CT testing that is intended to be more comprehensive than accreditation testing, but can be completed by the average physicist without the specialized equipment and extended scanner time required by NEMA testing. This session will introduce the TG 126 tests and describe one physicist’s initial experiences implementing them on three clinical scanners of varying manufacturers and ages. The discussion will include potential pitfalls, solutions to challenges, and how the new data can be used to assess scanner performance.
This session will provide an overview of a diagnostic physicist’s responsibilities as an RSO. The discussion will cover the expanding scope of radiation safety responsibilities under both regulatory and accrediting bodies. Common regulatory issues encountered in the medical use of radioactive material and strategies for maintaining compliance will also be reviewed.
