This session brings together experts from their respective fields to provide attendees with updates about regulatory and certification issues that affect medical physicists. First, Mr. Reiter will discuss the current political environment, including a change in leadership at the top levels of American government, and the potential impact on clinical medical physics regulations, research funding, the medical use of radiation, and health policy. Next, Mr. Martin will speak about AAPM’s current and upcoming legislation and regulations being addressed within AAPM and how these activities fit into AAPM’s government relations advocacy priorities and strategy. Finally, Dr. Podgorsak will discuss new developments within the ABR, including an update on the Online Longitudinal Assessment (OLA) program that went into effect in January 2020 and a discussion of the ABR’s adoption of remote examinations for 2021.
