For many years, the responsibility for equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives has rested on the shoulders of racially underrepresented individuals. Due to the recent call to action against racism in America at all levels from healthcare to education, there are growing numbers of non-minority individuals who want training on how to be an effective ally for underrepresented colleagues in their place of work and in their local communities. In this session, we will present strategies on how to address race, identity and cultural differences in daily work, the spectrum of positions along a journey towards Allyship, and how to support equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts. How these strategies can be applied in Medical Physics such as through hiring practices will be presented. Finally, an exciting vision for transforming the AAPM will be shared including from the Ad Hoc Committee for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Proposed topics for presenters in order: A Framework for Discussing Race in the Workplace (Gibbons), The Allyship Journey (Williams), Strategies for Inclusive Recruitment and Hiring (Chetty), and A Vision of an Equitable, Diverse, and Inclusive Future for the AAPM (Pollard-Larkin).

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn the difference between being a bystander and an ally
2. Engage in practical examples to speak up as an ally
3. Learn how to identify situations to intercede as an ally
