As we embark into the second decade of the clinical use of digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), this session will celebrate and highlight where the technology started and where it stands today. Beginning with an overview of the Tomosynthesis Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (TMIST), the first speaker will discuss key aspects of the trial: motivation, prior research, study design and current study progress. The study biorepository, and the development process of models for individualized screening using TMIST data will also be discussed. The second speaker will transition into the clinical performance of DBT. A review of past and present states of DBT as a screening and diagnostic modality in the US and Europe will be offered. Finally, the speaker will provide a brief analysis of emerging technologies in breast cancer imaging that may function as supplements to DBT, or potentially provide solutions to the current gaps in imaging technologies.

Learning Objectives:
1) Understand the motivation, key aspects of the study design, and the current progress of TMIST.
2) Review the current state of DBT as a screening and diagnostic modality.
3) Discuss emerging technologies in breast imaging.
