Ballroom A
Modern single room proton therapy systems have many similarities to multi-room proton installations, including proton therapy treatment planning systems and the use of proton therapy specific quality assurance devices. There are challenges that are unique to these single room proton therapy installations that are addressed by medical physicists during acceptance, commissioning and everyday operations. These challenges include working with a smaller field size, limited gantry angles and potentially shorter treatment delivery times. This session will discuss three separate installations of single room proton therapy systems spanning an array of available systems along with a discussion of quality assurance for single-room installations
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify current AAPM guidelines for proton therapy QA
2. Understand features unique to single room proton therapy systems
3. Understand how single room proton therapy systems are clinically implemented
