Room 201
Korean Society of Medical Physics (KSMP) with 250+ members, Japan Society of Medical Physics (JSMP) with 2,500+ members, and Korean Association of Medical Physicists in North America (KAMPiNA) with 120+ members have come together this year to design & propose a professional symposium at the 2022 AAPM Annual Meeting. This symposium is dedicated to educating our societies’ missions and sharing of our core academic & scientific findings in the hopes to foster collaborations amongst our members and with the greater AAPM/international peers. The AAPM Annual Meeting will be an ideal venue for this as it is a meeting place of medical physicists from all nationalities. As for the details of the content of this symposium, the KSMP and JSMP societies hold regular joint triennial meetings, specifically to foster such collaborations and to share exciting research findings. Thus, we are proposing to translate this format to hold a 4-hour symposium that would give opportunities for our societies’ representatives to give an overview of the diversity and work environment amongst the members in the three societies, review of international collaborations and opportunities that are available within the societies, and the select noteworthy research activities that are in progress. Since we will hold this symposium in English, all attendees of the meeting shall be able to join, including the Japanese-heritage medical physicists practicing in North America. We believe that this symposium will lead to greater collaboration amongst all members, encourage diversity, and participation in the Annual AAPM Meeting.
Learning Objectives:
1. Review diversity in duties and work environment amongst the members in the three societies
2. Review international collaboration amongst the members in the three societies
